Roundup of a dramatic midweek round of Premier League action across the table and two managerial sackings.

Arsenal remained at the summit despite a 1-1 draw at Brentford, in which Noni Madueke headed them into a 61st-minute lead before Keane Lewis-Potter netted the Bees’ equaliser.

Manchester City consequently cut their title deficit to four points following a 3-0 victory at home to Fulham through three first-half goals in the space of 15 minutes, as Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring before Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland sealed the result.

Aston Villa remained third with a 1-0 victory at home to Brighton after Jack Hinshelwood deflected Tyrone Mings’ 86th-minute header into his own goal.

Benjamin Sesko’s 96th-minute header saw fourth-placed Manchester United snatch a last-gasp 1-1 draw at third-bottom West Ham, after Tomas Soucek had flicked the Hammers into a 50th-minute lead from close range.

Down in the relegation zone, rock-bottom Wolves held Nottingham Forest to a goalless draw at the City Ground which cost Forest manager, Sean Dyche his job.

Second-bottom Burnley ended their 16-match winless streak with a 3-2 comeback win at Crystal Palace after Jorgen Strand Larsen’s brace put the hosts in control, only for Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony to equalise before Jefferson Lerma’s first-half own-goal sealed the Clarets’ victory.

Tottenham sit five points clear of the drop in 16th position after they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle, as Jacob Ramsey netted the Magpies’ winner after Malick Thiaw’s opener was cancelled out by Archie Gray in a performance which saw Spurs subsequently sack Thomas Frank.

Elsewhere, quick-fire goals from Rayan and Amine Adli saw Bournemouth clinch a 2-1 comeback at Everton after Iliman Ndiaye put the Toffees in front from the penalty spot, although the hosts finished a man down after Jake O’Brien’s red card for a foul on Adli.

Lukas Nmecha’s penalty and Noah Okafor’s finish saw Leeds claim a comeback 2-2 draw at Chelsea, after Joao Pedro’s chipped strike and Cole Palmer’s penalty had initially put the Blues in control.

Virgil Van Dijk’s 61st-minute header saw Liverpool clinch a 1-0 victory at Sunderland, which ended the Black Cats’ unbeaten home form this season.
