Fourth Round – Grimsby vs Wolves – Sport Grill

Grimsby seek a fourth-round giant killing against Wolves at Blundell Park in the 2025-26 Emirates FA Cup.

Victory would see Grimsby reach the fifth round for the second time in four seasons, whilst Wolves look to move past this stage for a third consecutive season.

Team News

George McEachran is available for Grimsby after having been substituted due to cramp in the Mariners’ 1-0 victory at home to Accrington Stanley on Wednesday evening.

Wolves could welcome Andre back after he missed their last two matches due to a calf injury.

Hwang Hee-Chan (calf) and Toti Gomes (hamstring) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Grimsby host Wolves at Blundell Park on Sunday 15 February at 1:30pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 1 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Grimsby have won one of their last four FA Cup ties against Wolves (W1, L3), although they have met five times as Wolves won their first-ever cup tie against Grimsby 6-2 at home in a Fifth-Round replay after a 1-1 draw away in February 1937 (W1, D1, L3).
  • Wolves have avoided defeat in two of their three previous FA Cup visits to Grimsby (W1, D1, L1).
  • This is Grimsby’s first FA Cup tie against Wolves in the 21st century, with the pair having last met in this competition in November 1988 as the Mariners won 1-0 at home.
  • Three of Grimsby’s 10 FA Cup goals this season have been scored by Jaze Kabia.
  • Wolves have won four of their last five FA Cup ties against EFL opposition (W4, L1).

Prediction

Unbeaten in their last ten matches in all competitions, Grimsby can’t be underestimated especially with four clean sheets in their last five home games, although three of those four clean sheets were 1-0 wins so this might be bit of a grinder if they produce a similar performance.

Grimsby though beat Manchester United at home earlier this season in the Carabao Cup which will give them a psychological boost, yet they did lose here to Brentford by a 5-0 result in that same competition just two rounds later which tempers that mental edge slightly.

Wolves meanwhile are all but mathematically relegated from the Premier League so this competition is a free hit for them because a cup run will salvage some pride this season, especially after their ruthless third-round demolition of Shrewsbury at home.

On that note, I expect Rob Edwards to field a strong line-up and although Grimsby will give them a proper fight, this is really Wolves’ tie to lose despite their league form.

Prediction: Grimsby 1-2 Wolves
